Congratulations to South Australian weaver, Yvonne Koolmatrie, the recipient of the 2016 Red Ochre Award. We are proud to represent this incredible artist, whose lifetime work as an artist has been increasingly recognised.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Panel established the Red Ochre Award to pay tribute to a senior Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person for their lifetime achievement in the arts and their outstanding contributions to the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts, both nationally and internationally.

The National Indigenous Arts Awards were established by the Australia Council for the Arts to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
